Artist Spotlight • BIG K.R.I.T.

Eloquent flow and modern verses are some of my favorite ways to describe Big K.R.I.T (King Remembered In Time).  This Southern rapper coming out of Mississippi brings an in intellectual mind to a scene that desperately needs more people like him.  Born Justin Scott, Big K.R.I.T had been grinding in the scene for years with three mixtapes before breaking out when he made guest appearances on Curren$y’s Pilot Talk and Wiz’s huge Kush and Orange Juicemixtape.  Big K.R.I.T’s first huge success came with the mixtape K.R.I.T Wuz Here in 2010, which led to him signing with Def Jam.  He really shows the depth of his rhymes in the single “Children of the World” from the mixtape over a beat he made himself.

Big K.R.I.T started into massive tours and made the cover of XXL magazine with freshman class with the likes of Mac Miller, YG, and Meek Mill among others.  Big K.R.I.T came back with Return of 4Eva in 2011 that received vast critical acclaim from rap critics.  His most recent release came out just a few week ago called K.R.I.T (King Remembered In Time).  The first single, “Shine On,” features Southern legend Bun B over a slower, casual beat by Big K.R.I.T himself that fits the flow of these rappers perfectly.
